Residency built for high-potential foreigners
The Long-Term Resident Visa is a 10-year permit administered by Thailand's Board of Investment under the Ministry of Interior Notification of 25 May 2022 and BOI Notification No. Por 3/2568 (4 February 2025). It sits a tier above the DTV: where the DTV suits shorter-stay remote workers and soft-power visitors, the LTR is for those putting down long-term roots โ with work rights, tax privileges and fast-track immigration built in.

The requirement every applicant shares
Whichever route you take, you must satisfy one of the following:
Health insurance covering at least USD 50,000 of treatment in Thailand (valid 10+ months); or
Current Thai social security benefits; or
A maintained bank balance of at least USD 100,000 for no less than 12 months.
Bringing your family
Dependents can be included on your LTR:
Spouse and children under 20 โ up to four dependents (each needs USD 25,000 in funds)
Same-sex marriages are recognised; unregistered partnerships are not
An expansion to parents and unlimited legal dependents is announced but awaits a Ministry of Interior notification before it takes effect

Government fees are transparent: no BOI charge for the qualification endorsement itself, a 50,000 THB visa issuance fee per person collected in Thailand, and 3,000 THB per year for the Digital Work Permit. Embassy/e-visa collection fees vary.
